Service Description
This is a performance ensemble group for people of all ability levels, including those with IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities). Lead by a board-certified music therapist, band members will learn and rehearse music from a therapeutic lens, incorporating non-musical skills such as teamwork, patience, determination, and responsibility. Members of this group get to learn music across all contemporary genres such as rock, pop, alternative, and blues. As well as learning songs, band members will get to write and record original music. We will showcase all of our hard work at the semester-end performance for friends and family. No audition is required for this group. Students must be 18 years or older. Weekly 1:1 lessons (one hour long) are required in order to make the most of group rehearsals (lessons are included in class tuition). *Rochester Music Lab instructors have extensive experience working with people of various ability levels, including individuals with IDD* Schedule: Weekly Band Rehearsals are Saturdays from 12:30p-2p (May 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, June 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, July 1st, 8th, 22nd, 29th) Weekly 1:1 Lessons are available with Andrea | Mon 4:30-7P, Tues 4:30-7P, Thurs 5:30-7:30P, and Sat 9-11A Weekly 1:1 Lessons are available with Travis | Mon 5-6P, Wed 5-6P, and Fri 3-5P *For more 1:1 Lesson availability contact us! Students will be billed $350 per month which includes four 1.5 hour rehearsals and four 1 hour 1:1 Lessons (totaling 10 hours a month / 30 hours for the whole semester / $35 per hour).
